My Husband's New Throw » Finished

In my last post, I showed you my first W.I.P. in 3 years. Well, now it's finished and I'm back to show it off! I did use the same yarn that is called for in the pattern mostly because I already had 4 skeins of the camo from frogging the afghan I had originally started 3 years ago. Anyway, here's the throw in all it's wonderfulness.

I also made a hat, mug cozy, and swiffer dust cover (not shown) with the leftovers.
I also made it 75" (150 rows) instead of 56" because my husband is tall. ;) This made the throw look real thin and real long which I didn't like, so I adjusted the border to make it approximately 6" wide. It did help some but next time I attempt something like this, I will be adjusting the entire pattern. For help on calculating yarn amounts, number of rows, etc., please check out The Crochet Crowd's calculators. Find them HERE.

And, once again, you can find the pattern for this manly throw HERE.

First W.I.P. in 3 Years » Starting My Journey

After 3 years off, I've decided to take up crocheting again. I've also chosen to document my journey here on my blog and share patterns I use (of course, only linking to them).
So, I've known how to crochet for about 10 years now (Wow! It doesn't seem like it's been that long!) and I've only made 3 things (What?! I know, right!). I made a single crochet afghan for my oldest when he was 1 year old and I made a single crochet hat and v-stitch blanket (Pictured below) for my youngest son right before he was born which was almost 3 years ago!

I had started an afghan for my husband but stopped when the baby was born.  Just about 2 weeks ago, I decided to start back up again, ordered some new hooks off ebay, and ended up frogging my husband's afghan. I found a great pattern for a throw and decided that was what I was going to do! So, here's a photo of my progress so far:

You can find the *free* pattern HERE.
Keep a look out for my next post showing the finished product! ;)
